The sport science and health education department’s four quality programs in physical education, sports administration, athletic training and exercise science prepare students for success in a variety of exciting and interesting careers. Past students and graduates have sought opportunities with organizations such as the Dallas Cowboys, the U.S. Olympic Swim Team, the Iowa High School Athletic Association, the Portland Trailblazers and the Iowa Cubs as well as jobs in high schools, colleges and fitness facilities across the country.
The department’s supervised internship program allows students to gain valuable experience working in a variety of fitness-related fields while receiving college credit. The department also offers students many opportunities to work with Simpson’s sports teams or serve as an intern for the Storm’s athletic office.
Simpson’s athletic training education program is accredited by The Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education, or CAATE, which allows students to seek certification after graduation.
Mike Hadden and Jason Uhlenhake look on as Governor Terry Brandstad signs a proclamation for Athletic Training Month.
